As an important food-processing hub in Southeast Asia, Malaysia enforces strict quality standards for corn flour. This Malaysian customer, a food ingredient supplier, faced the following production challenges:
Efficiency requirements: While maintaining a throughput of 500–1000 kg/h, the finished product needed to be precisely controlled within the 200–300 μm range (approximately 50–80 mesh).
Particle size uniformity: Conventional grinding equipment produced inconsistent particle sizes, negatively affecting the texture of downstream food products.
Temperature control: Corn contains starch and small amounts of fat; excessive temperature rise during grinding can lead to caking or flavor changes.
Solution: Epic Powder Air Classifier Mill (ACM) System

To meet the customer’s specific requirements, Epic Powder provided a customized air classifier mill for corn flour, integrating mechanical impact grinding with dynamic air classification technology. This solution is specifically designed to meet the stringent hygiene, temperature, and particle size control requirements of food-grade corn flour processing.
1. Core Process Flow
- Feeding stage: Whole corn kernels are uniformly fed into the grinding chamber via a variable-frequency screw feeder.
- Classifying and grinding: A high-speed rotating rotor inside the mill subjects the corn to intensive impact forces. The ground particles are carried upward by the airflow.
- Precise classification: By optimizing the classifier wheel speed, particles are accurately controlled within the 200–300 μm range, preventing oversized particles from entering the final product.
- Low-temperature collection: A high-air-volume induced draft design removes heat through airflow during grinding, preserving the natural quality of the corn flour.
2. Technical Advantages
- Stable capacity: The air classifier mill for corn flour achieves a stable throughput of 500–1000 kg/h, fully meeting the customer’s commercial production requirements.
- Food-grade design: Manufactured with materials compliant with food safety standards, the equipment features smooth internal surfaces without dead corners, ensuring easy cleaning and maintenance.
- Flexible adjustability: Although the current target is 200–300 μm, the adjustable classifier wheel speed allows future development of finer products (e.g., below 100 μm).
